It has been a little while since my last update - I'm sorry about that. I've had a lot going on personally and professionally.
It has been an shockingly busy year, and I have been very lucky to work with some incredible people that have helped me to get through it. Without their professionalism, understanding and compassion it would have been so much harder. I can't thank those people enough, and I will miss them.
In other news, my family and I are on the move! Those that know me personally will know that my wife and I have wanted to 'escape' the central belt for many years. We have always wanted the countryside and all that it brings. We figured it was time to give it a try! We are both about to work at the most incredible school (jumping from one amazing school to another is like winning the lottery!). We are also going to be living in a bit more of a dramatic place... Below is a picture from the front of our new home. Bonus prize if you know where it is! (DM me on Twitter, or Email! First to get it, gets a prize! :D )
Anyway, I will hopefully by updating this site a bit more regularly - at least with blog posts. In the meantime, I thought I would share some of the new woodwork resources I have made. 12 projects covering 'frames' and 'carcases', along with 'field notes' booklets for both. Let me know what you think.
As always, I hope you are safe and well.
Here is another prelim paper for you to use, this time for Higher Graphic Communication. This also requires you print the Supplement Booklet - I couldn't fit all the graphics required into the actual paper.
Similar to the National 5 paper, this one has been 'balanced' in line with the SQA guidance as best I could. As I write this, I haven't fully completed the Marking Instructions. I'll be working on them at the weekend.
Apart from that, please have a good Christmas when it arrives. Please keep you and your family safe, as Covid seems to be on the rise again.
Hope this paper helps. Let me know your thoughts.
*** Update *** 21st December 2021
Finally uploaded the Marking Instructions.
The prelim is also now onto version 1.6...
Okay, the updates have been very slow. I am very sorry, but in fairness, I am working on several major projects behind the scenes. I can't speak about them too much right now, but I am hoping it will help our community in the near-term,
Anyway, I have been making other stuff. As we enter 'that' time of year again where we turn our minds to prelims, assessments and assignments, here is a new N5 Graphic Communication Prelim. It has been set according to SQA guidance for balance of questions/time. (As best as I can, anyway.) I have even uploaded the marking instructions this time...
Hope it helps!
Okay, I don't know about you, but I am nervous of the year ahead and whether we will see exams. It is a tough call for those making these decisions.
To prepare my certificate classes I will be doing regular 'mini-assessments'. This will build up practice and technique - and if all else fails, be a useful source of evidence should I need it. So feel free to download and use the locked papers (and marking instructions). Teachers should email me for the password. I hope it helps!
As usual, I will update this blog entry as I make new resources.
Please keep safe and healthy out there!
